Class Collaboration
I had already used TodaysMeet before, so I wanted to check out the other sites to get new ideas. The site that I really liked was wallwisher or padlet. This site has a "board" that you can add posts too. I looked at many different walls to get ideas of how to use it. One way that was used for education was the students had to use a vocabulary word in a sentence. Each student posted their sentence and then the teacher could make another post if their sentence wasn't quite on point. It can also be used for feedback. I could ask a question about something, and the students could put their thoughts. It would be used sort of like a blog, but simpler. I think it could also be used to study or for a presentation. The ways this site could be used for collaboration and education and even personal use are endless.
Lesson Design
When looking at the sites for lesson design, I couldn't pick just one to discuss because I was really intrigued by two of the sites: Lessonopoly and TED-Ed.
I think that Lessonopoly would be a great resource for lesson design because you can manage your classroom, find and share lesson plans, and connect with other teachers. I was really interested in the fact that you can find lesson plans and connect with other teachers. This would help me stay up-to-date with new ideas and technologies, and able to share my own ideas. Sometimes you need something new in your classroom, and this is a perfect place to collaborate with teachers that are similar. Teachers will share their lesson plans based on a certain topic or event that is happening, such as the Olympics. I want to base some of my lessons based on my students' interests, and this is a perfect place to get ideas.
TED-Ed was a site that I found very interesting. You can search a YouTube video, and then make a lesson plan based off of that video. Videos, when used correctly, can have a positive impact on learning. I think this is a great way to enhance learning. First, you choose a video that coordinates with your lesson. Then you can add multiple choice and essay questions that students can answer. You can also add more information with links to other sites, resources, blogs, etc. I have never heard of this site and I think it would be very useful in the classroom. This goes along with the idea of a flipped classroom so class time can be used for hands-on work and discussions instead of just lecture.
